Nog zo’n door David Bowie geïnspireerd product, de eerste symfonie van Philip Glass, beter bekend onder de titel “Low” Symphony. Ik heb altijd de grootste moeite om er David Bowie in te horen, ondanks het feit dat het een erg fijn stuk muziek is om te luisteren. Maar als je Philip Glass moet geloven heeft hij toch echt Bowie’s muziek gebruikt:
I’ve taken themes from three of the instrumentals on the record and, combining them with material of my own, have used them as the basis of three movements of the Symphony. My approach was to treat the themes very much as if they were my own and allow their transformations to follow my own compositional bent when possible.

Voeg die van jou toe →[…] heb al zoveel pianomuziek in deze challenge. Geen opera want die duren mij net iets te lang. Geen symfonie want die zijn mij vaak net iets teveel herhaling bij Glass. Eigenlijk bevallen de soundtracks van […]
